Prohibitions while Taking the Test

If we suspect that you are conducting the following prohibited actions, your response will be excluded from the evaluation. As a result, your test results will become unavailable or lower.
Reading aloud prepared scripts
Repeating speeches that have been memorized by rote
Using AI tools such as ChatGPT
Using translation tools or a dictionary
Having a conversation with someone
This can be considered as asking for assistance regardless of the contents of conversation.

TSST is designed to measure the test-taker's speaking proficiency holistically, and the assessment of speaking proficiency must be based on spontaneous speech. You are supposed to take the test alone. You should listen to the questions and decide how you are going to respond by yourself. If we suspect that your responses are not created “on the spot”, we do not offer an assessment.

Prohibited Matters regarding the Contents

All copyright and other intellectual property rights regarding the test are vested in ALC EDUCATION INC. The contents etc. may not be disclosed to third parties, reused, copied (including sound recording), accumulated, distributed, sold, assigned, lent, adapted, altered, or otherwise disposed of without permission.

The following acts are prohibited.

  • Any acts that constitute photographing, video recording, sound recording, copying, etc.
  • Making all or any part of the reproduced test questions (not limited to reproductions in English) or an overview of the test questions accessible to or available for viewing by third parties in one way or another using the Internet, television, radio, mail, in written form, in a lecture, or any other means.
